Have you ever wondered why the Christian life is so hard?
If we have full access to the Creator and God of the universe, why do we find it hard to pray? Seriously.
Why don’t we want to run and talk to Him about EVERYTHING? How dumb is that?
Why do we prefer to listen to sermons and read devotions instead of truly digging in and studying God’s
Word? Why don’t we crave time with the Bible?
Why do we allow all sorts of things to get in the way of our time with God? We play video games, watch
home improvement shows, stay up late on Saturday nights, want to sleep in on Sunday morning and put
priority on almost everything else except our time with God.
Why??
It truly makes absolutely no sense.
The struggle is REAL.
In fact, the struggle is VERY REAL!
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities,
against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the
heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12 ESV)
Read that verse until it sinks in -- read it several times.
We struggle to grow in our faith because the enemy that comes to steal, kill, and destroy does not want
us to grow. We are distracted by everything because it is one of the schemes of the devil. We don’t
relish our time with God through reading the Bible or prayer because the forces of evil desire to keep us
from God.
“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and
having done all, to stand firm.” (Ephesians 6:13 ESV)
God wants us to put on His armor of protection so that we can withstand the struggle. He is calling us to
stand firm.
Will you put on the armor? Will you stand firm?
You see, the struggle is REAL.
But God is stronger than the struggle.
