A person’s first and last words are special. Parents proudly announce their toddler’s first word. Last words of famous people are recorded, and last words of family members are treasured.
Just before Jesus ascended into Heaven, He spoke these last words:
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:18- 20 NIV).
The Savior of the World told His followers to GO! Make disciples. Baptize believers. Teach them.
He wants us to share Him as we go. We are to “feed” others. Jesus said:
“Are you a wise and faithful servant of the Lord? Have I given you the task of managing my household, to feed my children day by day? Blessings on you if I return and find you faithfully doing your work. I will put such faithful ones in charge of everything I own! But if you are evil and say to yourself, ‘My Lord won’t be coming for a while,’ and begin oppressing your fellow servants, partying and getting drunk, your Lord will arrive unannounced and unexpected, and severely whip you and send you off to the judgment of the hypocrites; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matthew 24:45-51 TLB).
We are to be ready for Jesus return by sharing Him despite any hardships we may face due to following Him.
Jesus promised that He would be with His disciples always until the very end of the age.
Today, make yourself “ready” for Jesus’ return. Be “set” in The Faith no matter the cost. And “go.”
Go make some disciples.
