And those who know Your name will put their trust in You, for You, Lord, have not abandoned those who seek You. (Psalm 9:10)
Sometimes living in the world makes me sad. I don’t know how God stands it. So much of what you hear about Him is from people who have never known Him. They talk about Him with a familiarity that doesn’t exist and curse His name with misplaced anger. Many lump Him into a pile of religious and social gods imagining that some mystery afterlife will be the same fate for all of us.
People have become spiritual with faith in themselves rather than faith in God. Worshiping His creation rather than the Creator. At best, some are searching for Him; and at the worst, they believe they are God. However, we are all given a tremendous hope that despite spiritual deception, those who seem to hate Him the most can still find God.
Seek the Lord while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the Lord, and He will have compassion on him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.
(Isaiah 55:6-7)
When I was eight, I visited my grandparents for the summer. At night I would place my boots and clothes by the bed because I didn’t want to miss spending the morning doing chores with my papaw. I would lie awake in bed in the quiet morning; and as soon as I heard him get up, I would jump into my clothes and boots and be in step with him out the door. God wants us to want Him.
Now then, children, listen to me, for blessed are those who keep my ways. Listen to instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it. Blessed is the person who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my doorposts. For one who finds me finds life, and obtains favor from the Lord. But one who sins against me injures himself; all those who hate me love death.
(Proverbs 8:32-36)
God is near and only a belief away from beginning a great journey to really knowing Him.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him
[Jesus] shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.”
(John 3:16-17)
It isn’t our words that matter to the Lord but our hearts. Give your heart to God today.
