One day . . .
One day we will see Him. We will see Jesus. Face to face. We will look into those eyes that dance and weep for His creation. Maybe we will hug Him. Maybe
we will fall at His feet. Maybe He will laugh or say our name.
One day . . .
For many believers, that day comes as we pass over from this life to the next.
However… ONE DAY…
One day there will be the Day of the Lord, the day He comes back.
For us, there are many unknowns about that Day. But one thing is certain: the Bible says it will be a “great and
terrible day” (Joel 2:31 and Malachi 4:5).
“At that time Michael, the great prince who stands watch over your people, will rise up. There will be a time of distress such as never has occurred since nations came into being until that time.”
(Daniel 12:1)
“They will be horrified; pain and agony will seize them; they will be in anguish like a woman in labor. They will look at each other, their faces flushed with fear. Look, the day of the Lord is coming— cruel, with fury and burning anger—to make the earth a desolation and to destroy its sinners. Indeed, the stars of the sky and its constellations will not give their light. The sun will be dark when it rises, and the moon will not shine. I will punish the world for its evil, and wicked people for their iniquities. I will put an end to the pride of the arrogant and humiliate the insolence of tyrants.” (Isaiah 13:8-11)
Then the kings of the earth, the nobles, the generals, the rich, the powerful, and every slave and free person hid in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains. And they said to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of the one seated on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb, because the great day of their wrath has come! And who is able to stand?” (Revelation 6:15- 17)
Throughout the Bible, God speaks about the excruciating pain of this terrible day.
Do we see His pain?
The same God who created a perfect world will have to judge an imperfect world. The same God who creates each person in their mother’s womb with exquisite detail will bring those lives to a terrible end.
And it hurts Him.
One day every knee will bow. For those of us who believe, it is a beautiful day. For those who don’t believe, it will be a terrible day.
God wants you to know this truth because He loves the world so much that He sacrificed His son.
How will you respond?
