Seen and Known

Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely. (1 Corinthians 13:12 NLT)
To be seen by God is to be seen clearly and known completely. This verse teaches us that one day, when we see Him face to face, we will see with perfect clarity and understand completely. Until then, as we navigate the months and years ahead, we will undoubtedly encounter things we didn’t see coming, circumstances that we can’t see how they fit into God’s purpose, and things we simply don’t understand. In those moments, we find refuge in the God who sees.
The name of the LORD is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe.
(Prov. 18:10 NLT)
As we launch out into a new year, I’d like to offer some encouragement about the God who sees and stands ready to strengthen us.
He sees when you are anxious and says, “take no thought for tomorrow" (Matthew 6:34)- He sees when you are overburdened, worn out, and overwhelmed and says, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
- He sees when you are fearful, when the world is pressing in and says, “take heart; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
- He sees all the things that compete for our attention, that vie for our allegiance and says, “seek you first the kingdom of God” (Matthew 6:33).
He who sees you clearly and knows you completely, bids you trust Him completely and follow Him through that which you cannot see.
