Pinterest Faith

If you haven’t been introduced to Pinterest, for the love of all things, here is your embossed invitation. It’s like a library of crafts, recipes, pictures, ideas, house plans, garden ideas, and more. Seriously – you could search for just about anything and find some great inspiration and ideas.
Here’s the downside of Pinterest. Rarely does anyone post their fails. You can see a handful of them, but mostly you find the perfect unicorn birthday cake that probably took a professional several days to create and yet, nobodies like me think… well, sure, I can do that. Hours later with tears shed, swearing never to bake again, and a kitchen looking like a bakery exploded in it – a cake is purchased at Kroger. And the defeat sets in.
We are quick to hide the fails. Yet in the case of Peter, aren’t we glad God can use them? Do we think Peter would have posted a picture of himself falling face first in the water? Picture of a rooster with the caption “Y’all, I blew it today. #CrowedX3”? Probably not. But God knew the lesson could be used for millennia to come if he shared. Can’t we show more about grace from the fails?
I’m not saying every fail we encounter needs to be discussed and shared detail by detail. But here’s the deal (time to clutch your pearls), people already know you mess up. But being humble and transparent about it shows them how you rely on the Lord for those moments.
2 Peter 3:18 says:
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen. Peter understood the balance between the knowledge of who He is… and the grace He brings.
Lord, often we are the last ones to recognize when we fall on our face in the water. Help us gain the wisdom to share our “Pinterest fails” when appropriate and share how You always turn it into a win for Your glory! Thank You! Amen
