They arranged to meet Paul on a certain day, and came in even larger numbers to the
place where he was staying. He witnessed to them from morning till evening, explaining
about the kingdom of God, and from the Law of Moses and from the Prophets he tried to
persuade them about Jesus (Acts 28:23).
In the verse above, the Apostle Paul focuses his message on "the kingdom of God" as he tries
to persuade the Jewish leaders about Jesus. This emphasis on the kingdom of God is a
consistent theme in Paul’s preaching, as well as in the ministry of Jesus Himself.
At its core, the kingdom of God is about God’s reign and rule over all creation. It’s a kingdom
that was inaugurated with the coming of Jesus, but it will be fully realized when Christ returns.
It’s not a political kingdom or one that operates according to the world’s power structures.
Rather, it’s a kingdom where Jesus is King—where His will is done, and His peace,
righteousness, and justice reign supreme.
For Paul, proclaiming the kingdom of God meant sharing the good news that Jesus is Lord and
that, through Him, we are invited into a restored relationship with God. It’s the message that,
through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, we are reconciled to God and can become citizens
of His kingdom.
This message is still central for us today. When we share the gospel, we are inviting people into
something far greater than a religious experience or a new set of beliefs. We are inviting them
into the very kingdom of God, where they can live under the loving rule of Christ, experience His
transforming power, and anticipate the day when His kingdom will be fully established.
As believers, we also live as citizens of this kingdom. Our allegiance is first and foremost to
Jesus, our King. This changes the way we view the world, the way we treat others, and the way
we live our daily lives. We are called to reflect the values of God’s kingdom—love, mercy,
justice, and humility—in every area of life.
When we proclaim the kingdom of God, we are sharing a message of hope. In a world that is
broken by sin, division, and injustice, the kingdom of God offers the promise of renewal and
peace. We have the privilege of inviting others into this kingdom, where they can find true life
under the rule of a good and gracious King.
May we, like Paul, faithfully proclaim the kingdom of God, pointing people to Jesus as the
rightful King and offering them the hope of life in His eternal kingdom.
