I almost missed Him. The last couple of weeks before Christmas, I found myself running around buying diapers in the holiday rush. Then, I had to find a time to deliver them to Amachi. There were gifts for foster kids to pick up and deliver. Unexpected doctor visits, changes in work schedules and an impending blizzard – all making made it hard to find Him.
Truth be told, I almost missed Him most of the year. It can be so easy to do.
Perhaps you’re like me. In the busyness of family, work, church and other good/great things, we can easily miss God.
This isn’t the life God wants us to live. He wants us to spend time with Him. He wants us to walk with Him daily just as He walked with Adam and Eve. Too many days, however, we hide behind our priorities when He comes to walk with us. We don’t even “miss” God at those times, but He misses us.
You see, He wants all of us to find Him. The Bible is full of promises about finding God:
“I love those who love me, and those who search for me find me.” (Proverbs 8:17)
Therefore let all the faithful pray to you while you may be found; surely the rising of the mighty waters will not reach them. (Psalm 32:6)
“You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart. I will be found by you”—this is the Lord’s declaration. (Jeremiah 29:13-14)
“For the one who finds me finds life and obtains favor from the Lord.” (Proverbs 8:35)
“Therefore I tell you: Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing?... So don’t worry, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.” (Matthew 6:25, 31-33)
You see, child of God, your Father loves you. He wants to spend time with you.
Don’t miss Him this year. Make 2023 the year that you spend time with God every day. This is the life He longs for you to live.
