God and faith can sometimes feel like one big maybe, especially in the work environment; but faith in God starts where our own certainty stops.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9)
I am constantly reminded not everyone was raised in a small country church in Campbellsville KY with a mother and father who set a firm Christian foundation and work ethic. It is never more evident today than in the work environment. I am blessed to be surrounded by so many great friends, family, co-workers and clients, but we are all faced with daily challenges and obstacles. But where there are obstacles, there are opportunities; and the difference between obstacles and opportunities is our perspective.
Let your faith in God show through the way you treat people, the peace you operate from even in the midst of chaos, and the confidence you have in Christ. Let your belief – not your situation - direct your behavior and attitude. Sometimes when we are going through the storm in our work environment and it seems like we are drowning or the rain won’t stop… God may just be providing an opportunity - the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life by serving Him in the midst of the storm. So when the storm comes (and it will), don’t dodge the rain or step over the puddles, but run through it with God’s perspective not our own.
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
(Philippians 2:3-4)
Father, I pray You help give us Your perspective and not our own. I pray we love deeper, not louder, Lord. Thank You for the confidence we have in You during the storm. Help us be an example to others of a hope-filled life and not merely a hopeful life. Amen
