Redeemed, how I love to proclaim it!
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
Redeemed through His infinite mercy,
His child, and forever, I am. **
Let the sound of that hymn ring in your heart as we take a brief look at two more of our spiritual
blessings in Christ.
5 – Because of His glorious grace, He lavished His love on us (Ephesians 1:6 CSB). He didn’t just give us a
taste of His love – He poured it out all over us. Dear friend, you are LOVED more than you can imagine!
And because of that grace and that undeserved love, we have perhaps the most treasured spiritual
blessing of all:
6 - In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of
His grace. (Ephesians 1:7) Because of the amazing love of God and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, you and I
are redeemed and forgiven -- if by faith we have accepted the gift of Jesus’ sacrifice.
God’s Word tells us:
For I will forgive their wrongdoing, and I will never again remember their sins. (Hebrews 8:12)
As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. (Psalm 103:12)
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all
unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
Scripture makes it clear that Jesus paid the price and God is faithful to forgive us when we confess our
sins. Yet many believers are still living in shame because they keep digging up and remembering what
was buried with Christ.
I was sitting on the beach breathing in the beauty of the waters off the coast of Aruba, when I got a
grain of sand in my eye. I quickly popped out my contact lens to deal with the sand, and immediately the
ocean breeze wafted my contact lens out into the sea. Think with me for a moment how silly it would
have been for me to ask everyone on the beach to help me find my contact lens in the vast ocean. How
exhausting and futile it would have been plunging into the depths of the ocean to find it. So… let my
contact lens represent my sin and let the wind that blew it away represent God’s redemptive act of
forgiveness. When God forgives, the sin is GONE! We are redeemed!
Dearly beloved believer, you are a forgiven child of the King. Count your spiritual blessings and quit
digging in the ocean.
