This week we are looking at Acts 19 – and noting the various ways the people of Ephesus
respond to the gospel of Christ when Paul presents it to them.
In today’s passage, Paul is still in Ephesus and God is using him to perform miracles: God was
performing extraordinary miracles by Paul’s hands, so that even facecloths or aprons
that had touched his skin were brought to the sick, and the diseases left them, and the
evil spirits came out of them. (Acts 19:11-12)
Paul was serving God and ministering to others in Ephesus. Not only was God using him; but
through God’s power, Paul was performing miracles and healing people. He was being mightily
used by God!
Paul saw God at work doing these things through him. He might have had strong feelings
including concern and surprise when it first happened. He may have even felt pride that he was
being used in this way!
The important thing is that Paul had surrendered himself to God’s ministry. He was going where
God wanted him to go. He was seeing miracles being performed and people being healed. He
was making the most of himself to be available for God and for the people of Ephesus.
Anyone who is a parent knows that when your kids need something, your schedule goes on
hold. You drop what you do and take care of your kids. Paul was doing the same thing with the
people of Ephesus.
Do you have this mindset with God? If something comes up, are you prepared to serve God?
