Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. (1 Peter 5:7, NLT)
What are you still holding on to that you have not yet given to the Lord? Is it frustration? Is it anger? Is it
loneliness, bitterness, or worry? Or is it the disappointment of not receiving the Christmas gift you really
wanted? As we transition from the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season to the solemn entry into a
new year, you may be harboring something within you that you really shouldn’t. Maybe you have
forgotten that you are a child of the King, whose birthday we just celebrated. Apostle Peter reminds us
in 1 Peter 5:7, to cast all our anxiety on God, because He cares for us. If you truly believe God cares for
you, then may I encourage you to let it go!
Is it unforgiveness? Let it go! Apostle Paul urges us to bear with each other and forgive one another if
any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you (Colossians 3:13 NIV).
Is it bitterness? Let it go! Scripture encourages us to get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling
and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving
each other, just as in Christ God forgave you (Ephesians 4:31-32 NIV).
Is it loneliness or disappointment? Let it go! God assured us, “I’ll never let you down, never walk off
and leave you,” we can boldly quote, God is there, ready to help; I’m fearless no matter what. Who or
what can get to me? (Hebrews 13:5b MSG).
Is it anxiety? Let it go! Scripture reminds us: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation,
by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. [Philippians 4:6 NIV].
Friends, God can only work fully in us when our hearts are completely empty of the issues of this world.
A new year, a new you, new resolutions. As we gear up for the year 2024, would you resolve to leave
behind any unforgiveness, bitterness, loneliness, disappointment, anxiety or worries? Isaiah 43:18 says:
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. Resolve to shape your worries into worship, and
humbly submit your past to the Lord. Let it go!
May you have a happy and blessed New Year!
