January 2025 is here!
As the new year begins, it’s natural to feel inspired by a clean slate. Gyms are full, planners are
purchased, and resolutions abound as many strive to create new habits and routines. While
these efforts are valuable, they often follow the world’s rhythms rather than God’s timing. What
if, instead of letting the calendar dictate our goals, we allowed space for God to set the agenda?
What if God's next move for you in 2025 isn’t until June? For me, I will graduate college in May,
move to Cincinnati in June, and start a job at GE Aerospace in July. Instead of trying to initiate
change on my timing, I am going to spend January preparing my heart and myself for the
change to come.
God's timing, your timing, and the calendar timing are possibly all different. But know that God's
timing is the right timing.
The psalmist writes: But I trust in you, Lord; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in your
hands.
January and the new year often come with new beginnings, bettering yourself, bettering your
relationships, etc. But this year make your goal to strengthen your relationship with the Lord.
I would love for you to sit and meditate on the following questions. Perhaps write them down
along with your answers.
1. How am I going to challenge myself to grow more like Christ?
2. What am I praying that God might bring me in the new year?
3. How can I prepare my heart for the plan the Lord has for me in 2025?
Now pray over your answers and allow the Lord in. Know that the next 365 days are already
written down in the Lord's book and nothing is a surprise to him. Prepare your hearts and let the
Lord work!
Happy New Year, IBC family! I can't wait to hear what all the Lord is going to do!
