Sometimes it feels like our prayers simply hit the ceiling and bounce off. During those times, we can feel like prayer is pointless. We either quit praying or pray without believing there will be an answer.
The idea of “breakthrough prayer” is, therefore, appealing. If our prayers could break through the ceiling instead of bouncing off, things would move in the right direction and we would pray more.
God longs for breakthrough prayer as well -- from the other side of our “ceilings.”
You see, God’s view of prayer is much different than ours:
The secret to breakthrough prayer is to allow God to break through our hard hearts and stubborn minds.
Jeremiah sums it up best, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you” (Jeremiah 29: 11-14).
Seek the Lord with all your heart -- today. Then your prayers will break through the “ceiling” that you have placed between your heart and God’s.
